Dernasigh Sally leads the way at Balmoral Show

British Blonde Cattle Class Results

Judge: Mr William Laird, Fife

Pictures by: Bo Davidson

First time exhibitor Molly Bradley lifted the top title of the Supreme Championship in the Blonde judging ring at the 2022 Balmoral Show. Dernasigh Sally, a junior heifer of the show, is sired by Gazou and bred from the homebred cow Heidi. Sally also secured the Female Championship ticket earlier in the day.

Later in the week Molly added more silverware to her collection by lifting the Interbreed Young Handlers championship at the show.

The Male Championship rosette was won by the McElroy family with their senior stock sire Nigransha Paddy Power who is a son of Baltra Iceman and is bred out of Ivaniskey Hilda Matilda. Hilda Matilda had been sold to start up the Nigransha herd a few years ago, which resulted in the McElroy family buying back her bull calf to join the herd as their stock bull.

Taking the Reserve Male Championship was the Overall Junior Champion Hillhead Sambuca shown by Rodgers Livestock team. This young bull is a son of Budore Utah and is out of the herd homebred cow Hillhead Olivia.

Other noted championship prizes include the Reserve Junior Champion Gledney Shergar, a junior bull entry from Connor Savage. This entry was a son of Shanvalley Notorious and bred from Gledney Hotlady

The Reserve Female Championship ticket went to the senior heifer winner Ballygowan Rosie from Dean Farrell. This lady is a daughter of Ark Maverick and out of Ballygowan Inspire.

Final congratulations go to all the Blonde cattle exhibitors for putting on a great show of stock and keeping the lines in order over the duration of the show, as a result the British Blonde exhibitors were presented with the Champion Breed presentation award for the Best Turned Out lines in the cattle section.
