Worcester Blondes sell to 3,100gns

The British Blonde Cattle Society’s Annual Spring Show and Sale at Worcester recorded a somewhat selective trade but good, correct, balanced sound bulls found favour and sold to a trade reflecting current trends.

Top call of the day went to “Rosebank Napoleon” a two year old son of Budore Jim-Bob that won third prize in the preceding Show from Jamie Turnock, Derby levelling at 3,100gns to M K Harrison, Shap, Cumbria. Next in line on price was 2,900gns jointly with “Anod Nemo” from Phillip Parry, Brecon another two year old bull out of a Rodleigh Voyageur Dam and shown successfully in the show classes taking First, Senior Male, Overall Male and Overall Supreme Champion selling to P & S Mellor, High Peak, Derby. Also at 2,900gns was the second prize junior bull from Robin Joyce, Dorset, “Fiveways Newton” by the homebred Sire Iceman and secured by W Cox & Son, Solihull. Another “Rosebank” bull from J Turnock having won First prize and also by Budore Jim-Bob was closely followed and knocked down to Bickley House, Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire at 2,750gns.

A smart run of senior bulls from R G Davies, Fronfedw were well placed in the Show classes and their 3 year old bull “Fronfedw Macsen Wledig” having won First, Reserve Senior Male & Reserve Overall Male Champion sold to G Collins Farms, Devizes, Wiltshire the same purchasers taking a further four bulls at the sale.

A small but select entry of females sold to a top of 2,000gns for the First prize maiden heifer “Doncombe Nayana Rose” from David Knights Bristol based herd selling to R Schneider for export to Germany.
