Warmingham Lucy takes the Supreme Beef Interbreed At Nantwich Show.

It proved to be a red letter day for the Richardson family at the recent Nantwich Show, when their heifer Warmingham Lucy was crowned interbreed beef champion. The 3yr old calved heifer sired by Kinaston Garlic, had been awarded female and overall Blonde champion under judge James Weightman earlier in the day.

Lucy was shown with her four month old bull calf at foot and was led by the Richardson’s 16yr old daughter Hollie. The Richardson’s run a small number of Blondes alongside their dairy enterprise near Sandbach, Cheshire.

The Blonde classes were extremely well supported with twenty animals forward from five different exhibitors from across Cheshire and Derbyshire.

The first class of the day for junior heifers was won by Lowercroft Nico, born May ‘17 and sired by Sauveur, from Philip Marsden.

The senior heifer class was won by Warmingham Mulberry, born Aug ‘16 and again sired by Kinaston Garlic, this time led by 13yr old Ben Richardson.

The cow and calf class was hotly contested with five cows and calves forward, and was described “as one of the most difficult classes he had ever judged” by the judge James Weightman. Leading the the class was the eventual champion Warmingham Lucy, with Lowercroft Lottie in 2nd, this 3yr old heifer sired Sauveur, from Philip Marsden would then go on to take the reserve female and reserve breed champion.

Two classes of bulls followed with Whitepeak Ninja winning the junior bull class, this January ‘17 born son of Treales Harold from the Mycock family and led by Jane Wells then took the Male Champion ahead of stable mate Silverwood Len, born Feb ‘15 and sired by Ardmore Gargoyle, who had won the senior bull class.

In the Interbreed Calf Championship the Blondes were again well respresented with five forward. Whitepeak Orpheus, born January ‘18 and sired by Allacott Judge, went on to claim the reserve supreme ticket for the Mycock family.
