Gleniffer Jazmine leads the Blondes at the Royal Highland.

Gleniffer Jazmine was awarded the Championship honours in the Blonde ring at the Royal Highland show, exhibited and bred by Alan Walker from Auchinlech, Ayrshire. Jazmine born February ’14 sired by Maidenlands Guy won the Scottish Blonde club cup for the Junior cow class before receiving the Brownhill Perpetual Challenge trophy for the Champion Blonde animal bred by the exhibitor Judged by Leanne Workman from Larne, Northern Ireland. The Easterton Blonde Perpetual trophy for the Reserve Champion Blonde was awarded to Shanvalley Mona, bred and exhibited by Savage Brothers from Ballynahinch, Co.Down was born January ’16 sired by Seaview Barney. Doncombe Madhu leads the way at Malvern.

Doncombe Madhu took the Championship at the Premier Blonde Show held within the Royal Three Counties, Malvern for the second year having won the calved heifer class and the female Blonde championship earlier in the competition. She was also the Reserve Interbreed champion of the show. Madhu born January’16 sired by French bull Aramis, bred and exhibited by D&S Knight from Bristol lifted the Farm Mark Perpetual Trophy amongst numerous other silverware including the Doncombe perpetual challenge trophy for the best exhibitor bred animal. It is with great sadness, that we inform you of the passing of Tom Hope

The society would like to express our sincere condolences and thoughts to the Hope family upon the passing of Mr Tom Hope, from Strathaven, Lanarkshire on Tuesday 4th June 2019 aged 87 years. Tom was an active member within the breed over the years, and also was the President of the society from 2012–2014. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. The funeral will take place at Drumclog Memorial Kirk on Thursday 13th June at 11am and thereafter at Strathaven Cemetery, to which all friends are respectfully invited.

Loss of a legend within our auctioneering industry,  David Thomlinson (aka DT)

We are deeply saddened with the news of the loss of a legend within our auctioneering industry, David Thomlinson (aka DT), who was sadly taken under tragic circumstances. He will be remembered for his outstanding dedication to the livestock auctioneering world, within H&H, throughout the UK and across the world. Fellow auctioneers have paid heartfelt tributes to David, over the last few hours, which has shown the impact he has made within the livestock auctioneering business. He had a great attribute to develop and mentor the next generation of auctioneers and today we see and hear some of his skills which have been passed on to them to allow them to become the great people they are today

A small selection of bulls sold to top price £3413 for Doncombe Olympus born January '18 sired by home bred Doncombe Hervelius selling to A&N Baxter, Worcester. Doncombe Onyx born January '18 sired by another homebred bull, Doncombe Invictus sold to Mr Hall from Ludlow at £3098. Eight heifers sold to a number of buyers reaching £1470 for top priced heifer Doncombe Oshra born March '18 sired by Doncombe Invictus out of Doncombe Jezebel going to Mr Clatworthy, Ludlow.
