Midland Blonde Club Farm Walk

This years herd visit is to the Meadow and Thornbury herds by kind permission of Linda Sewell and Derek Hicks on Sunday 1st July. This will be a great chance to view the Meadow and Thornbury herds at their home in Cambridgeshire. The Meadow herd has been very successful in the Large Herds category of the Midland Blonde Club herds competition as well as being very successful on the South East show circuit, including class wins at last years National Blonde Show. The Thornbury herd is also highly acclaimed being successful in the Small Herds section as well as on the show circuit, with Dereks stock bull Thornbury Gerrard winning many breed championships. “Kate Grantham has worked in the office for the society for the past five and half years, she has been a loyal member of staff but sadly for us she will be moving on, and will leave us on Thursday 7th June. We would like to thank Kate for her hard work and wish her well in her new position".

Its a Classic day for Ivaniskey at Balmoral

Classic Miss Belle was awarded the supreme championship in the Blonde classes at Balmoral under the watchful eye of Judge Samantha Brown from Hackleton Blondes, Northampton. Females led the way this year with Miss Belle bred by Dermot McCusker from Co. Down and exhibited and owned by William McElroy of the Ivaniskey herd also from Co.Down. She is a January’16 daughter of the renowned sire, Budore Utah. Having won the senior heifer class, she went on to win female championship and triumphed by lifting the supreme champion ribbons and the BOCM Silcock challenge trophy for Champion British Blonde. Silverwood Nico tops Carlisle at 7000gn

Above: Silverwood Nico from Norman McKnight The annual spring show and sale of Blonde cattle was held at Carlisle on Saturday where the Junior Male Champion and Reserve Supreme topped the sale at 7000gns. This was Silverwood Nico from Norman McKnight’s Northern Ireland based herd. Sired by the 2017 Northern Ireland stock bull of the year, Ardmore Gargoyle and out of the Silverwood Joy, Nico had been shown once before at the NI Beef Expo where he won Junior Bull Champion. The successful bidder on this occasion was C Shenton from Wilmslow, Cheshire. Two bulls sold for 3000gns, this first of these was Lucyland Mr Muscle consigned by Lucy Corner.
