May Show & Sale, Carlisle, Bulls top at 5.500gns

The Supreme Champion Drumraymond Mr Mole secured the top price of 5,500gns at the Blonde Society’s spring show and sale held at Carlisle on Saturday. Consigned by Northern Ireland breeders Messrs Griffin of Co.Antrim, Mr Mole, a son Ballygowan Noble and out of a Blackwater Ainsley bred mother, is no stranger to the show ring as he won the Supreme Blonde Champion title at the NI Beef Expo Calf Fair in November 2016. He was purchased by local Cumbrian breeder Mike Harrison for his Shapfell herd. The next best bull also came from Northern Ireland when Norman McKnight’s Silverwood Luke sold for 3000gns. This October 2015 born son of Ardmore Gargoyle had won 2nd prize in his class at the pre-sale

Shanvalley Blondes take champion and reserve at The Royal Balmoral show with Shanvalley Jagger sired by Seaview Barney exhibited and bred by Savage Brothers & Son lifting the BOCM Silcock challenge cup for Blonde champion having won the Drumraymond Blonde perpetual cup for senior bull as well as the Jeremy Paynter challenge cup for best Exhibitor bred Blonde. Standing reserve was full sister to the champion Shanvalley Lucy taking the reserve ribbons and the Andrews Perpetual challenge cup for Best senior heifer as well as the Wilson perpetual shield for reserve champion. Shanvalley didn't stop there, they picked up the Saville Tractors trophy for the pair of British Blondes with Shanvalley
