Welcome to the South East Blonde Club Pages

June 2009 - Newsletter

Dear Member,
Thank you to all that attended the farm walk at Philip Madgwick’s and Emma Dow's, what a superb day, the location was wonderful, the cattle outstanding and worthy winners of the large herd competition last year. The refreshments afterwards were delicious!

Our next event is on June 26 th at Keith Bugden’s in conjunction with EBLEX, you should have received an invitation from EBLEX, with full details. PLEASE note that start time is 10.30am.

The commercial herd competition is to be judged before the end of July to enable National judging during mid August. I do have some entries, enough to make a competition, but this is a final reminder.
Did you mean to enter and the paperwork is filed away, or the farm down the road that purchased a great bull two years ago needs to be encouraged to enter? Please let me know asap, new entry forms can be sent to you.

We supported the Midland Club sale in May, SE won both the Male and Female championships, Roland King’s bull Sandridge Christian, by Druk Uriah, failed to reach his reserve, but sold last Friday at Carlisle for 3,000gns. Peter de Giles’s home bred heifer Bilsington Camellia sold for 1800gns. Peter also attended the Carlisle sale last week and his top price was 3,000gns for Bilsington Ciboure, an April 2007 bull.

On a sadder note, there were no Blondes at Hertfordshire show, Heathfield Show or the South of England last week. This is our shop window and we are in danger of losing these classes if exhibitors cannot attend. The Kent show will have classes and we look forward to seeing you on July 17 th/18 th/19 th.

Also, we were sorry to hear Nick Roberts is in hospital and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

The Scottish club is hosting the National Stock judging weekend from July 24-26 th based in Edinburgh. They have organised a full programme including farm walks and the Junior stock judging competition. We are looking for judges in the under 18 or 18 -30 category.

If you have any questions about any of the above please ring me on 01233 756468

Best wishes Ben

Club History

The South Eastern Blonde Club was formed in April 1994 as two pedigree breeders felt the time was right to have a Club in this area. We cover a very wide area not only Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire but Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. We do have members out this area these are mainly pedigree breeders.

We organise two or three meetings during the year with the AGM being held in October with a meal and sometimes a speaker. We try to balance the programme for both commercial and pedigree members; a membership is farm based so your social partner and or family members or employees are most welcome to attend meetings.

Locally, we award The President’s Cup to the Club member gaining the most points at the summer shows with their pedigree stock. The area heats for the National Herd and Commercial Herd Competition are held during the summer along with some local classes such as dam and daughter for the pedigree breeders. we also support the local Christmas Fatstock shows with special prizes.

We have a Club stand that attends all the local summer shows, which provided information and refreshments for members and non-members.

If you have any further queries please feel free to contact the Chairman or the Club Secretary.
